Haleakala National Park is located on the island of Maui in Hawaii. The park protects everything from a 10,000-foot summit to tropical waterfalls and oases. No road through the park connects the two districts, Summit and Kipahulu. The park provides excellent opportunities for backpacking and exploring the wild side of Maui.

How to Get There: The Road to Hana provides access to the Kipahulu District. You can reach the summit via Kula Highway.
Best Time to Visit: Haleakala National Park is pleasant year-round. Cold temperatures and snow should be expected at the summit in winter. In summer, expect heavy rains and heat.
Unique Things to Do: Bike the Summit Road.
